Thought this might make an interesting first post. In my hunt for a new 1st gen Tacoma, I came across two with completely rotted out frames. A third one was barely passable. And that's down here in Sofla! The one I just bought also had bad frame rot, but the previous owner had the frame replaced under warranty back in 2012. Here are the pics...

Interesting. When they did mine, they used some sort of bar across the engine bay, to hold the engine (and I assume something on the rear of the transmission), and thus raised the body and engine together.

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
So the new frame is already rotted out too?

Sorry I guess I wasn't clear. The frame was replaced once in 2012. All good since then.

I think they do it that way to keep from emptying AC, coolant, and removing a lot of "engine to body" connected parts. However, at the assembly plants, they do it like it's shown here. A rolling chassis with engine is built, then a cab and bed are attached later and the engine room connections and fluid fills are completed.

If you ever visit San Antonio, it's only about 20 mins south of downtown: addr is 1 Lone Start Pass, San Antonio.
