Ok, I just purchased a 2019 Tacoma TRD OR with the premium package last week. It was a dealer transfer from about 120 miles away. When I got to the dealership they had me get into the truck and setup the Entune system. It was determined that the last dealership where the truck came from must have taken out the sim card from the system so nothing was working. My salesman got a sim card from somewhere and then proceeded to walk me through the setup..... it went through a bunch of updates. At the end we got it all working so it seemed but we never tested the voice commands and placed a phone call.

FYI: I have the JBL premium sound setup.

When I got home, here is what I found:

    • PROBLEM 1: The bluetooth system voice commands did not work. I would press the button on the steering wheel and it would ask for a command as expected. I would give it a command and that's where things started to go crazy. It seemed like the microphone sensitivity is turned up way to high...before I could even give it a command the system was interpreting and moving through the screens as if I had given it a command.

    • PROBLEM 2: Phone calls are the next issue. I have an iPhone X thats about a year old. Every time I call anyone they complain about hearing an echo. The only way that I can make it a little better is to turn the receive volume way down to like -5 and turn the speaker volume down as well. The only problem with that is that I can barely hear anyone.

Here is what I have done to fix the problem:
    • Called the dealer and I have an appointment tomorrow. They seemed hesitant about the issue even when I told them about it. They told me they need the car the entire day to check out the issue. (yeah right.. )

    • Found out about the JBL premium sound system issues with the 2018 Camry. TB on this is replacing head units.

    • I have tried to disconnect my phone, soft resent the entune system and reconnect my phone. This did nothing to solve the problem.
Here is what I think the problem is:

    • The microphone sensitivity is turned way up! There is no setting to turn that down that I can find. My assumption that this setting is dynamically set when you train the system to your voice. My plan is to disconnect and reconnect my phone and yell into the mic when i set it up to hopefully turn the mic sensitivity down. I will let you know how this works.

If anyone has any ideas, i would greatly appreciate it. I have no expectations that the dealership is going to do anything to help me out...

    Thanks,
    Andrew

Here is the software version that I am currently on. Is this the latest?

Reset the system back to factory defaults and see what happens. I believe it’s part of the clear personalization settings

The phone echo problem is now fixed!!

Mad reps to St0rm-Tr00per. He provided me with the following documentation that fixed the echo issue. I had to turn my iPhone volume all the way up and set my car stereo volume to 38. It works perfect now.

My Tacoma was also a dealer trade. They noticed the SD card for the nav was missing. Like you, I noticed my guy came back with a card and put it in. Everything works great, but the second I start to use the voice commands the Tacoma freaks out. My biggest gripe is that the Tacoma voice can't seem to finish its own prompts. After one second, it beeps as if I'm supposed to talk. I originally start asking for Navigation and it ends up dialing someone. Frustrating. I'm learning it little by little. Maybe my words or phrases are off. I'll give them that, but for now I'm keep a close eye.
One day, saying XM works but on another day it doesn't do it.
