Alright, so let me preface this with the fact I have a motorcycle and I want to be able to load it up into my bed if I need to. I also want a bed rack for my truck. In order to accomplish these 2 things, I have researched bed racks with removable/adjustable spanning rails. I have only found 2 options that fit this bill and unfortunately they are both very expensive. So before I go and drop the cash, I wanted to get some people's feedback and experience on one or hopefully both of these systems. The systems I have found are the Active Cargo System from Leitner Designs and the ADV SL Bed Rack from Wilco Offroad. These are the only 2 bed racks with adjustable top spanners so I can slide them forward to load my bike in that I have been able to find. I have provided the links to both of these below. If you know of another system out there that does this, please let me know. So for those who have these systems, what are your thought and experiences with them? Thank you all in advance for your help.

It boggles my mind how pricey bed racks are. I recognize the skill and materials that go into them, but these just don't seem CLOSE to a $2000 item. Plus this doesn't even include the ludicrously overpriced rotopax mounts, cargo boxes, awning mounts, RTT mounts, etc. I mean, your bike probably wasn't much more than this.

I freakin' obsess about the Leitner, but cannot in good conscious spend that amount of money on an aluminum rack that fits on the bed of my truck.

That Leitner with the large box and rotopax all dialed in is just so damn sexy though. Imagine rolling around with all your riding gear, fuel, water, food, and bike all cleanly stationed in your bed while your cab is nice and clean. Ugh. That's why these things are thousands of dollars huh...

Why do you want a rack? Do you have a rtt? I just use a regular tent and don’t have a need for one

Yeah. They are a lot. :/ I was hoping to be able to find one on sale from a member here but those seem very few and far between. I still might not do it. I'm just getting all the facts before I decide if I will or not. My bike was quite a bit more then a couple thousnad though.. I have a 2017 Yamaha FZ-10, not exactly a budget bike. What you just described though is my ideal situation for this rack. Having my bike in the back and all my riding gear, ramps, paddock stands, food, etc. in the bed or on the rack. I also live in Buffalo NY so I can then re-purpose the rack for snow recovery/preparedness during those months.

See quote and response above for my desires for a rack. :)

Honestly if you have room for a trailer id just as fast spend money on an enclosed trailer for the bike before putting it in the truck bed. I know that doesnt exactly help.

That is another option I'll add to the list to consider. Thanks for showing me that. Looks pretty good. Making me consider getting a soft topper for camping. Haha

Unfortunately I do not have space for a trailer. :/ That is the ideal solution but is not really a possibility for me at this moment in time.

Honestly man, if you can afford to get the Leitner designs, id absolutely buy that. Buy what you want, its a good product. Its very modular, and looks fantastic to me. Dont second guess it.

I picked up my cbi bed rack on a deal, but if i had to pay full cost for it, i probably would have considered the leitner designs, due to this

When I spoke with them, I was looking to get it uncoated, so I could add to it.
I held off, mainly, because I am trying to get a hardshell.

They were very responsive, and even shared dimensions.

I would not hesitate to do business with them.

Yeah, that XL Gearpod is awesome and I would get one if I end up getting the Leitner. I have seen a few places that have a sale for the Leitner system going on right now. I am not sure if they normally ever have a big sale for like Black Friday or anything but right now the sales I see just seem to be for 5% off.

Will keep them in mind for sure. They seem like they make a good product.
