What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Nice and sunny so start draining diff fluid and breaking nuts free to swap the diff on my tundra axle then of course it gets windy and rain clouds over head. Fuck you California weather I guess it's the weather telling me I need to clean the garage so I can actually work in it

 

Mount it on your wall somewhere.

Working out bed space and mounting various items for easy access. Mounted a couple sets of quick fists to the driver side for my shovel and large axe and mounted a plastic ammo can in the rear corner of the bed. Also figured out a working solution for storing the High Lift Off Road base to get it out of the way.

 

Done that. I mean the actual fender at the corner. You can see where I rub and it’s tge corner of the fender and corner of the flare.

Those tie downs just bolt in to the bed I take it. Neat little setup.

 

Which tie down are you referring to? For the spare tire?

They are screwed thru the bed and have a special mounting plate underneath.



I had some left over from a different project but have used these tie down points for years to tie down motorcycles in my Ram. They work awesome and don't get in the way. The ring anchor itself is removable too.

Got them from here but I'm sure there are other options out there. They also make some with the edges cut off to fit between the raised bed floor rails.

Takes a lot of heat to do that, much more than overheat. Usually just the head and head gasket are affected. If you kept trying to drive it and drove the oil temp beyond it's limits then maybe bearing damage and cylinder wall damage as well as valve train damage would occur. But the rings are actually extremely hard and brittle and don't typically melt unless in a forge.

 

Purchased a scangauge ii and some 10lb Velcro today.
Fun, also got some pb for prepping my rear o2 sensor and new headlights(in the mail).
They send two pieces of Velcro with the scangauge but they aren’t good enough for securing it. It was sagging badly so I got the good stuff. Did my iPod classic160gb(full) as well with the leftover Velcro.
Life is good folks.
That is the best place I could find for the scangauge. I’m happy with it. It doesnt obstruct the vent movement. It does block view of the ac light.

finally replaced my bumpers that have been damaged for nearly 20 years.

 

Lol, I did the same thing with some of the cuts on mine that I took too much out. Stuff left over material underneath to hide it as best as possible.

Pulled these warriors off one of my 95s. Likely original at 255,000.

Just to support a knowledge increase here on TW, I ordered KYBs so I can give a review. I didn't do it to save money over the Bilsteins....

 

Put on a set of 17" Sequoia/Tundra wheels I found on Craigslist.

 

Other loom taped up and valve covers off...




Spark plug tube and PCV gaskets replaced...


Half moons and cam plugs removed/cleaned...

Question for those that have done this. Do you remove/clean the front cam bracket too? Didn't see any mention of it in previous write ups.
