So last night the wife and I, along with another couple friends of ours, were out and we took my truck. When I got home I noticed this...DD8A8536-A694-4E5F-809D-4C47C4587D7D.jpg
Know it wasn’t there before I left home because I washed it that afternoon and I didn’t back into anything so I’m positive some fu@&er hit my 2 month old truck with either a back door (in the diagonal situated parking spaces) or just skimmed it with a bumper or something while parking and ran.

Thankfully that corner bumper cover thing is the only part that was damaged and as most of you know its an easily removable plastic part with a few clips holding it on.

So my question is if there are any paint/body guys out there would give some advice. The plastic has a gouge in it that no doubt will require a little filling/refinishing and obviously a new coat of cavalry blue. Those pieces are under $100 online. Should I have them refinish and repaint it or would I end up cheaper and better off buying a new one, take it to the paint shop and just put it on myself? Didn’t get a quote yet but I’ve gotten good info from here so far so I figured I’d ask. Thanks all in advance.

The rear bumper caps are textured, much like the front bumper. You're better off having a new piece painted as it will be impossible to replicate the texture.

I just had my truck in for a bumper cap repair (was bumped in traffic) and I inquired about repairing a scratch on my front bumper. The shop (who does fantastic work) informed me with the texture, my only option would be to sand the cover smooth and then refinish. In my case, I could have done it on the front end at a high cost and you'd never know, but on the back end the finish would be different from side to side which may or may not be noticeable and annoy you.

You may want to take it to a local dealer. Underneath that cap is the blind spot monitor system. And it only takes a slight bump to put it out of alignment.

Has to be within 3 degrees of an angle. And if that's the driveside that's the master. It communicates to the slave blindspot at the other side. Might not show symptoms right away

No BSM on mine... thankfully. My Lexus had an error with that once because somehow it went out of alignment. (Under Warranty) Took 4 hours to get it right. Mechanic who did it was in the advisors office with me and he was telling how much of a pain it is to work on those things.

Yeah it's a real pain in the ass. But that's lucky. I would shop around check local body shops and see what the quote is to prime and paint match. Only issue you might have is that it wont be blended to the quarter and the rest of the bumper and that colour may be hard to match. But do the install yourself. It's all just clips and bolts. Nothing to crazy if you're mech inclined
