1st Gen Snugtop LED lighting upgrade help

Hey,

New member to TW however I have been following this site since I purchased my 1st Gen roughly 5 years ago. A few years after I purchased the truck I bought a Snugtop camper shell locally through craigslist and had a local topper shop hook up the wiring. The brake light recently went out and the interior stock light has been broken so I am looking to make some upgrades. I have been digging around TW the past few days and haven't found much (good chance I am looking in the wrong spot).

I would like to add LED lights inside to the top of the shell (fiberglass) and hook them up to some type of switch (rocker switch?). I also need to find a way to secure the switch to something so it won't break with random wear and tear of gear coming in and out. Also when looking at switches I have no idea how many amps the lights are pulling. Anyone have any tips or suggestions?

I can pots pictures of the wiring set up I currently have if that would be helpful. As you can tell I have very little electrical experience but am willing to learn.

Okay here are some pictures that might help paint the picture... As you can see the inside dome light cover was broken (when I bought it) and the bulb that was in there is really dim. Any ideas?
