Got a beautiful new 2019 Tacoma TRD Sport Barcoloma Red with 1400 miles on it and it's driving me crazy with this sloppy jerking transmission when in 6 gear. It jerks at times like the engine is misfiring but no code. It also jerks backwards when cold and backing out of garage. It's almost impossible to drive in town without going to S and up to 5. Plan on taking it into dealer tomorrow for a long talk about this thing. Very dissapointed in this engine and transmission, no power and jerking. ANYONE GOT THE SAME PROBLEMS?

    Welcome to TacomaWorld!

I have no experience with the 3rd gens, so I can’t comment on the issues you’re having. Hopefully the dealer can get you lined out.

Very seldom do transmissions jerk unless there is a serious engine missfire that makes it feel like a transmission problem
There is all kinds of information on the 3rd gen transmission on this forum .
Have you taken the truck back to the dealer for a road test explaining your problem ?

I have some reading for you here but your still on warranty

    1500 miles.

Took it to Dealer today and test drove with a tech. Report below:

CUST STATES IN 6TH GEAR FEELS LIKE A MISFIRE MAINTAING SPEED.
cause: misfire feel when maintaining speed in 6th gear.
MISC NO PROBLEM FOUND AT THIS TIME.

Test drove and could feel concern. Very slight stutter/misfire
feel when maintaining speed in 6th gear. Ran health check found no
codes nor transmission update. Made TAS case number xxxxxxxxx
they advised me (the tech) that it is a normal concern but to verify with same
like model. Found another same like model drove and did do the same
stutter/misfire feel in 6th gear when maintaining speed.

Man sorry to hear that. I saw a lot of people on this forum complain about this issue. Thought toyota wouldve resolved it by 2019. Beautiful trucks and not cheap.
    Maybe should ve got a MT:burnrubber: :anonymous::crapstorm:

Yes! Same exact problem. I just left my truck at the dealer. They said they are noting the problem and it’s part of the new transmission. They are hearing more and more complaints. I love the brand, but will be trading this at the 3 year mark. It’s just too annoying. Toyota needs to come up with a fix, not just yeah, we know. ??? Terrible answer. Truck only has 1600 miles on it. I waited 15 years for a new truck and ended up with this?? Ugh

when is the government going to get involved ? enough complaints to individual states consumer affairs dept probably would do the trick.

Any fix on your transmission yet? I have 2019 TRD and doing same thing...took to dealer once and they claimed its normal. Driving me crazy...took a buddy for a drive and he was like wtf is that. Isn't this a new truck. Disappointed.

No, no fix yet. I was told that every time I take the truck in for servicing or oil change to ask if a “patch” or “fix” has been issued by the engineers. But since it isn’t a safety recall then they won’t notify me first. I hate my new truck. I didn’t notice it on the 3 mile test drive. But it is terrible! I am going to trade it in. I’m sure everyone is trading them in early. Terrible flaw in the transmission design. I love the look and everything else, but the drive in this new truck is awful. I have a 1995 4 runner in pristine shape and it drives nicer. :/

I'm with ya. Loved when I bought it but hate the thing now. Beautiful truck but have already had rear end replaced @ 2k miles. Transmission jerking they said normal test drive. I bought this thing new and same here short test drive didn't do it, actually started getting bad at about 1k on the odo. Also shutters when slowing down. I bought based on Tacoma reputation. My first and last Tacoma. Will be trading soon

I have the same problem with my 2019, it absolutely drives me insane!! I took mine in to the dealer 2X now for this, the regional rep said there was a fix in the works but will be months down the road. I believe is it pre ignition knock that causes it. I can put 93 octane in it and the jerks will not be as bad. I heard the rattle of pre ignition knock the other day going up a hill. Toyota is aware it is a huge problem with the 2019. I will post back here is there is ever a solution, your not alone my friend! My problem didn't show up until around 500 miles and I now have 7300 on it. I traded a 2010 for this and not a happy camper.. wish I had kept my old truck!

So what ever happened. Did you all get this transmission figured out. I have the TSS recall and refuse to sign waiver because of different grill.
