Got the locker straightened out. Not sure what the issue was, maybe the motor had skipped a gear or something but it wouldn't unlock before no matter how much I tried to lock and unlock it. All is good now so I guess that's all that matters :). I pulled it apart and cleaned the housing a bit then re-installed.
Here's a test to show how much the spur gear rotates when it's actuated, looks like around 180 degrees.

For shits and grins I tested my spare one, and it rotates about the same

Where it mounts to the 3rd member was full of gunk and starting to corrode a bit, took some persuasion to get it removed, so I re-coated the area where it butts up against the 3rd member with anti-seize
    IMG_0137.jpg

Re-installed the factory "guard" that comes on it
    IMG_0139.jpg

Then finally took the time to mount the e-locker armor I've had sitting around for about 8 years
    IMG_0140.jpg

One other thing I realized is that the vent for it only goes up to the top of the frame rail. The tubing size is smaller than the rear diff vent, I had some windshield washing tubing laying around and that seems to be the perfect size, but I did not have enough of it. The plan will be to route the vent for it way up high where the rear diff breather is re-located up in the gas cap area once I can get some more tubing.

For sure! I drove it tonight and she's nice and smooth again, the drivetrain portion at least. Could probably use a good alignment and tire balance but I like the shaky steering wheel it keeps me awake :anonymous:
Picked up some free cabinets for some extra storage in an otherwise wasted space when you first walk in the garage. Not the best quality or color, but the old saying "if it's free it's for me" applies here  If at some point down the road I come across something nicer I'll swap them out, until then welcome to 1975 :D

Can't forget about the stripper pole too :)

One can hope! It gets the job done that's for sure!

lol well once I can clear out some space to mount the pole I'll post up here, other than that you're always welcome to any mod day. I try to have one every few months, sometimes more often than that depending on who needs what done to their rig.

The daily beater hit 100k so I gave her some pampering. Patched a tire leak I found, rotated the tires, changed windshield wiper blades, changed the engine oil and filter, changed the transmission fluid, and flushed the coolant system. Should be good for another 100k

Not much new for the tacoma, did take it out to pick up a cap for the 4runner the other day. While the gas tank skid was off I trimmed about an inch around the drivers side to clear the leaf springs better and the back side to clear the e-locker skid, they looked too close for comfort.

I did get some new nuts for the gas tank skid from toyota and maybe this week I'll drop the one strap and weld in some new studs so I can re-attach the gas tank skid. Truck has a nice stance with the new springs and rides much nicer with fresh greased up bushings :)

Nice truck. I haven't met you yet but, I've heard your name many times, and I know you know your shit. How do you like that inboard shock mount ,if you even still have it, opposed to the standard shock relocate?

Thanks for the kind words man, so as far as the shocks go I would not hesitate to replicate this on another truck. I've been really happy with the setup, and certainly can't beat the price . All the overland shock mounts add a few 0's to the price tag, I go by the KISS theory. As long as you match the valving for the truck the on-road handling won't suffer; while it offers much better flex than the stock setup and will not require you to cut through the bed.

The only thing I might change on mine would be to change the tubing to a round tube rather than square now that I have a tubing bender. I think the round tube is cleaner looking so it would solely be for aesthetics, but who's looking down there anyway haha

I've used a few of their tools years ago my dad had a drill and an angle grinder and they seemed like they took a beating and still working. Plus they were free so beggars can't be choosers :D. Glad to know they hold up well for others too, I look forward to chopping some metal up with the new saw :)

We had great luck with the grinders 4” and 4 1/2” but the drill didn’t last so well we went back to DeWalt. Understand these were used hard all day and we aren’t easy on tools. @TacoFMS can attest to that. I’m curious to see how the chop saw does you I haven’t bought one yet. Have you bought a metal cutting circular saw yet?

A metal cutting circular saw is one of the tools that I don't yet own. To be honest I haven't had the need, almost anything that can be cut with that type of saw I can use my plasma for so I can't justify buying it unless I find a hell of a good deal lol.
