Did the tire and wheel have damage . I know you love your truck and they are expensive but seriously you are way over reacting. Get it over it and move on with life .

if you treat it like a garage queen and going to worry over every little chip or scratch, definitely get it fixed and live a stress free life. If you drive it like a truck, and it's a daily driver, you will see a whole lot worse than this over the years... in this case, shine it up the best you can, it adds character, move on with more important things in your life.

    This is nothing.
I was hit by jeep on roundabout right to the top of the rear wheel. He blew my rear tire and dented the fender.
I changed the tire and drove off. There was no vibrations and alignment was fine after checking.

The way I see it, there are really two options:

    1) You could try to leverage the situation for a couple hundred bucks cash since you have the power here. Tell the individual you won't report it to insurance but you do want to buy a new fender flare. This helps them avoid a rate increase and pays for your next mod. Only offer this if you are 100% sure the fender itself is not dented/warped etc. Sometimes that is hard to know until you try to throw a new fender flare on and see it is slightly off.

    2) You could let it go and feel good knowing that karma will still be on your side. You could easily be on the other side of this situation in the near future and you would hope the person isn't a d*** if things were the other way around.

I have actually been on BOTH sides of this fence in the past and have exercised both routes. Make no mistake, the other person is at fault and you are absolutely entitled to having them pay for whatever you/insurance company deems necessary.

One time a Grand Cherokee rear-ended my Subaru Forester and SLIGHTLY scratched the paint on the rear bumper. My forester was covered in scratches/small dings already so I didn't really give a damn but I called the guys insurance anyways.

The small scratch/crease required a new rear fender, which required paint. Then I would need a new bumper cover trim and new rear mudflaps since they bolted onto the rear bumper. The estimator cut me a check for $1,700 on the spot and I promptly paid off my credit card and bought a new kayak!

My point here is that sometimes you don't realize how much you are actually entitled to until a professional checks it out and runs the numbers.

If its only a scuff we don't really care. We're both over 50 and we actually know the guy. He is the one who told me to get it checked out.

Send a letter to the at fault insurer explaining what happened along with your fee schedule to take the vehicle in to be inspected...call it an affidavit of truth have it notarized they will cut you a check and be done with it or do nothing...your call.

No such thing as a minor accident with our Tacoma. Lawyer up and sue them so their grandkids feel it.

sounds like a great guy. But still, up to you on the path you take. Looks fine, nothing serious, have it aligned, have it check out and go from there. Let him know how much it cost to have it checked out and anything fixed. He probably feels bad and wants to do something to make it right, and if it will make him feel good, it should make you feel good.

That sounds reasonable and my wife likes it too...
Edit: Service manager at my local dealership says no worries.
