Got a mag Gray with a sport hood that I'd like to wrap in it's entirety. Also thinking about wrapping the tailgate down to where the line under the "Tacoma" is.

I've seen some threads about wrapping parts of the hood scooped and hood scoop less hoods but I haven't seen any that have done the whole hood scooped hood.

Would love info on life time/best vynil to get. Is this possible for an amateur to install, or would a hood scooped hood be some next level shit?

Would appreciate pics of any type of wrapping on either hood to get some ideas.

    Thanks.

Ps. If you have links, post um up.

I've always used 3m 1080 series when I wrap various parts. The hood isn't hard to do but if this is your first time, you're gonna struggle a bit. I reccomend watching YouTube to get an idea. I recently wrapped my hood scoop took me 15 minutes but I've had some experience with wrapping from my own trial and error.

Shoot for the corners first like you are making a bed and get it flat before you squeegee and it will be smooth. 3M 1080 or Avery Dennison SW film will be great for a hood and they have so many colors between the two. Keep in mind that matte colors do not have a clear laminate therefor they can tend to look “dusty” sooner since it’s a porous type material to give it the matte finish. Both films above have air release meaning if you do get a bubble don’t freak out just give it some heat and run your finger around it and allow the vinyl to do its thing. And be sure to post heat the vinyl so it kills the “memory” and you don’t get any wrinkles where you may have stretched. This also allows for the adhesive to fully stick to the painted surface.

As you see here I pulled the vinyl to the corners of the door and it made it lay flat allowing me to Squeegee faster and not get wrinkles. Also your hand is one of the best squeegees because you can feel if the vinyl is going to crease before it does. Just wear a cloth glove. Also a triangle technique is what most wrappers use in every panel to allow them to complete the panel quickly.
