Made a bunch of stuff black.
My P3 has a different main screen on it. Any ideas why? There must be an updated P3.

I drilled the hole right behind the unit, but the hole needs to slotted, I used a step down type bit. I grounded it to the metal bracket on the brake pedal, next to the OBD connector on the right side.

I can reach it easy, but have never used it.

Like AEmedic, I mounted mine (P2) to the right of the steering column, only I made a bracket that bolts through the holes where the tray mounts.

First, I made a paper pattern of the opening. Then cut a couple of pieces of 3/16" (overkill but that's what I had laying around) plate and welded them together.

I just installed the p3 using the 3040 harness. Seemed like the best place is in the center console. Anywhere else is going to get bashed by your knees, or not be easily visible. Also worth mentioning is that this controller needs to be mounted level (horizontally left to right) as well as parallel to the vehicle. Some of the other popular mounting spots, like inside the right cubby, won’t allow for this. The 3040 is barely long enough as others have said, and it’s tough finding a spot to drill a hole or find a place where there’s any room behind the center console to thread the harness through. I ended up drilling a 1” hole with a forstner bit through the inside left of the console. Mounted the p3 with Velcro. Clean and tidy.
