Pilot drilled holes for 56 #8 3/4” stainless steel Phillips head screws and used finishing washers. I did a grid of 14 by 4 across. I offset the panel from center to leave the edge that rests on the lip clear. Hope this helps.

Swung by Mule Expedition Outfitters on Saturday to pick up an ARB 2500x2500 Awning and Deluxe Awning Room.

I prolly shoulda checked to make sure I had enough tie down straps in my truck before heading out... but luckily two was enough. Actually, I wasn't even thinking about picking it up that day. Wife and I went for a lil drive to see how much snow was around town and there pretty much wasn't. I asked if she wanted to go home and she said, hey, why don't we go to Mule? Best Wife Ever :D

Im swapping out my smittybilt awning for one of those 2500x 2500 ARBs this spring... My brother has one on his van and the quality is much nicer (not to mention bigger).. was trying to decide if it was justifiable to go with the aluminum housing ARB or the standard zip up one.

I just went with the standard zip up one. Didn't see the need for the fancier one. What size was your awning?

The smittybilt ones are like 8 foot x 6.5 foot.. The extra foot and a half on the ARB makes a noticeable difference. Its also just nicer hardware in general.

For the L-brackets you made that bolt into the bolts on the under-side of the Habitat Overhang, you didnt add any other fasteners did you? Just the one bolt at each L-bracket that is under the overhang?

Nope just used what was there. I did make the bracket longer than necessary so it had more surface area on habitat to avoid too much leverage on it.

It has been rock solid. Between the two bolts under there and the attachment on the l track its not going anywhere.20190211_132229.jpg 20190211_132229.jpg

Dude! Much appreciated. Thanks for the photos :) I figure I'll do that , but I'll prolly use all three for a lil extra spread of the weight, specially since mine will be extending outward about 3 inches further than yours.

Going to cut an offset bracket outta the below piece of aluminum. 3x5 inch rectangle tube. Will rivnut it to the Habitat as pictured, and one near the front as well, then the three bolts under the overhang. At least that's the plan!!

what's disappointing to me is that it's just a stage on really big tires, lol. Great for what it is, obviously. I'm sure it can go just about anywhere!

The panel is the stock AT panel for sleeping an extra person. Its honeycomb composite aluminum like the walls with aluminum all the way around and covered in carpet.

We now have our new floor in! 3 removable Plywood panels across six milk crates. We will be carpeting them and drilling some finger/hand holes for lifting them off for access while in the Habitat. Who needs an expensive drawer system?

Expensive drawer systems are cool if you get them for less than half price off TW! :)

Thank you for putting your cool guy patches on the hatch and not your headliner. That’s where my 4yo has started putting the ones he finds around the basement.

We use the bed of the truck for entrance and egress, I can’t imagie your back likes you much now!!! I have extra, a ton extra, rubber trim for the “backscratcher” if you are interested. I make you special deal.

Anyone in hear removed / reinstalled habitat? Going to need to in the next couple weeks to replace a bedside and fix the broken rivets at the front of that habitat..

Also if you haven't checked those rivets its a good idea to keep an eye on them... 3 of the four of mine were completely gone, and it ended up cracking my synthetic bed. Pretty disappointing honestly being that I only had it for about 9 months when it happened and haven't really beaten on it.

Two of mine on the passenger side are gone - do you need to remove the habitat to fix that or can it be repaired on the truck? How did it crack the bed?
