I have a 2nd gen and happened to slam on the brakes, moments after the brake light came on. I was confused on what to troubleshoot. Any advice?

Brake fluid is low in the reseviour, likely brake pads are low. Check fluid, check your brakes.

You mean the brake light came on for a second or it has stayed on? If it just came on for a second then it was probably the fluid sloshing in the reservoir and triggering the low level sensor, might need to top it off a bit.

I have an 04 but I notice the brake light only comes on if I'm either slightly low on fluid or if the ebrake cable is too loose and needs tightening.

There are only three things that I know that turn on the "Brake" LED on the Combination Meter.

    1. Low Brake Fluid.
    2. Parking Brake Switch.
    3. Skid Control ECU.

    Scan for a code.
