using the spliter/puller and mount should do it. Put a good amount of pressure on the bearing via the screw and with a brass hammer strike the socket end of the screw assembly. Vibrations do wonders sometimes. If you don't have a brass hammer, go buy one or when you miss you will be buying gears too.

I used a bearing splitter but I had a lot more room to work with as I was replacing ALL the bearings/syncros. I had the shaft out of its' case and was able to get it pulled.

Shop just called. It is done and the new bearing is IN!

    Only $65

Now I'm sorry I even messed with it to begin with when I should have just taken it to them!

    Lesson learned for next time.

    Thanks for the responses, all!

Not bad, but if that were me (don't get butt hurt k??) I would've had the entire thing rebuilt.

For anyone ever thinking of this in the future....

They said they used a puller, a little heat, and some love taps from an air chisel on the back of the gear (they removed bearing and gear like the FSM shows).

Header installed and the balance shafts removed. Bilstien front coil overs. Installed an instrument cluster from a 4cyl 4runner that had a factory tachometer. Polished Western Slot Mags. New cylinder head and new bearings and counter shaft in the trans.
I've done gotten the rear gear and bearing off two ways. 1 you can use that OTC tool which take a lot of pressure. 2 I've also applied to heated the inner bearing race and it slide right off with no puller ...even the gear slid off. ...But don't heat them so they discolor!

Sure, I'll give them a plug - it is called Landis Transmission. Right up the road from where I worked for 16 years. Got to know them over the years - they are good guys.

My project is picking back up again after stalling for a little while!

I am installing dual cases, but in order to get approval from the Mrs. I had to complete a long anticipated bathroom remodel project first....
