    Taco Friends,

I have a shifter from my old gen 5 camaro (Barton Industries 2010 short throw shifter). The thread for this is 5/8-16. I am looking for an adapter or anything I can screw into it to make it fit the tacoma gen 3 thread (12mmx 1.25). Any help would be greatly appreciated, I've been ripping my hair out trying to find something. the guy at Home Depot looked at me like i had two heads lol.

American Shifter or Sick Speed web sites have a ton of adapters to help you out.

Most of them are 5/8 x 16 to whatever you have, you listed the size. I do not think yours is 3/4 to 16 but I may be wrong. I know it is a PITA but try and give them a phone call. Take another picture with a ruler on the end you want to fill

A 5/8x16 to a 12mm 1.25 will get you going. Post a pic when you get it mounted.:fingerscrossed:

Go to American Shifter website home page and there is a side bar for adapters.

That's 11/16 but a rule in 16ths is not real accurate take the shifter to a hardware store and try bolts until one fits. 12 MM is a lot smaller than what you got it's closer to 17 MM. If you find a bolt to fit drill it to 12 MM thread there will be plenty of room, thread it to the shaft screw the shifter on.

You may have a winner with the one you found 16 and 17 MM are real close but an odd size.

have you thought about a heli-coil insert......we used them for drilling small or large holes then pressing an insert that haas the threads.....bet you can get them from Grainger......if not, just fill and drill then re-thread to the size you want
