I can't speak for all trucks, because it seems what works for some, doesn't work for others. I can tell you guys that I have an 18 ACLB, MT...a unicorn.
went with a 2 inch spacer lift up front because it is a daily driver, and I put at least 30,000 miles on my vehicles each year.
I also went with progressive 3 leaf add a leaf pack (wheelers) in the back, and left the overload leaf in, because I haul rocks sometimes..
after adding the add a leaf pack, I had a slight vibration, decelerating between 30-10mph. and even smaller one from 55-60mph.
I just got back from my test drive, after putting 3 degree shims on each leaf perch, and it drives like it did off the lot.
    hope this helps someone.

Hoping the shims will fix my issue, carrier bearing drop didn’t help.

Running a 2” ARB OME old man emu kit with 886 heavy load coil overs in the front, complete leaf springs in the rear.

Seems to be pretty common with the short wheelbase trucks. Pinion angle is really critical with such a short driveshaft.

If you still have vibes after shims it is most likely the needle bearing in the driver CV which needs to be replaced with the ECGS bushing. About 1.5 hour job with right tools and a quart of front diff fluid....been there done that

Having 3* shims put on Saturday

I don’t have the issue with the ECGS bearing since the truck isn’t 4wd I’m thinking it has to be the pinion angle however from looking at it the drive shaft really doesn’t seem like it’s that out of tolerance but I suppose with the short wheel base it does make sense. Heard that they can’t be more than 0.5 degree off.

Have y’all heard of anyone using one piece drive shafts for this issue? Thinking worst case scenario I would go this route but seems extreme for a 2” lift.

Edit: truck has 6,000 miles on it, lift was installed less than a week ago.

    Did the shims work?
Just ordered some 3° myself after trying all sizes of CB spacers with no luck.

Did you measure the angles before and after? What are your angles now?

yup. definitely a bigger tire, but I am cheap...want to get the most out of the stock tires. I am doing the research, but can't decide between 1 size larger tire, or pizza cutters.

Sure...lot's of 2nd gen guys have them.

A 1-piece requires has a double cardan at the transfer case. Pinion operating angle is 0 degrees.
    Picture_049.jpg

Personally, I'd prefer a 2-piece with double cardan after the carrier bearing. Transfer case and pinion operating angles are equal.

I think this is what is my problem. I put in 1.5 inch blocks last night. All seemed fine until I hit the brakes. From 30 to a stop it felt like I had heavy lug mud terrain tires on the back. Sound the same to you.

It does sound the same. I explain it like this...I COULD have lived with it, but I wanted it perfect. I tried to shim the carrier, but that didn't work. I did a lot of research and finally had to suck it up, and buy the shims for $30...call me crazy, but the hardest part for me was paying wheelers offroad, $17 for shipping...lol
put the shims in, (smaller end forward). and vibration gone. hope this helps.

Problem fixed. Thanks for the help bud. I cant believe that 2 degrees can make that much of a difference. Now an alignment and all done. Thanks again.
