Hey, I was wondering what people were doing to get these in Canada. Are there any Canadian dealers/sites that bring these in? For people that have gone down to the US and drove them back was there any issues to bring these up? Thanks!

I've been doing some research but couldn't find any definate answers.

Are there any know modifications that would have to be done emissions or otherwise? Seems like the older 2nd gens might need to have drls added but I'm guessing the newer ones already have this.

Has anyone had to pay duties (besides the normal Canadian sales taxes) when importing. I'm assuming they are manufactured in North America so they won't?

There is fees related to the import of a vehicle (I think around $300 + federal tax and provincial tax) on top of the safety inspection the vehicle must undergo (which must be paid by the importer, you). Ther is duties, but I do not know if they are included in the import fees or not

Here' s transport canada's page about importing a vehicle
    https://www.tc.gc.ca/en/services/road/importing-vehicle/purchased-united-states.html

I'm no expert in vehicles imports but maybe you'll have more luck by posting in the Canadian forum:

I saw one of those for the first time a few days ago. What a weird looking little stumpy truck!

    here.

Why do you want a reg cab?

Im on my 2nd american tacoma. i live in Calgary.

one i have now is a 2005 Offroad double cab auto, (same truck in canada only comes in manual until the 2016 models)
I dont know the process of getting it across the border really since i got both truck off the people that brought them over, but best bet would be to get a broker to look after it. they know all the ins and outs of shipping, taxes, etc etc, and would be far less of a head ache for you for the bit of fee they would require. plus a good broker will FIND you the truck that youre after!

something to consider.. there are a few other american trucks around canada and from one coast to another, rail car shipping is best and runs just north of 1000$ if i recall, but can find some flat decks and truckers that are making runs witha bare trailer that you can get a deal on hauling one...

I like the shorter wheelbase. Was looking for a lower mileage manual. They pop up for sale very rarely in Canada but there are a good few for sale not too far from the border. Just trying to see if it would be worth driving down to get one. Always have really liked the look of them too.
