New to the Game so a quick question for those more seasoned and confident in their mods.
Yesterday I installed a Prinsu Cabrack and along with the CaliRaised 42 lightbar and Harness. Having a blast getting in my new truck and making it my own, but some of the small details that are nothing to the more experienced have me stalled out.
The wiring harness from CaliRaised was way too thick to fit up the drivers side window channel. I cut back the protective plastic and wound the wires in electrical tape. I guess my first question should be, Was that a bad move?
The wires are now much smaller and ALMOST fit nicely. It’s snug but it’ll jam flush for most of the stripping except at the very top, and I’m unsure how to secure that effectively so it doesn’t fall out after some period of driving.
Is it as simple as tape? Had a guy at an auto parts store suggest Silcone. Is that a bad idea?
Just looking for a nice clean look with as little wire showing as possible. Any and all tips appreciated!

This is as flush as I could get the wiring.

This is how it becomes unsecured over time in normal driving conditions

Silicone would work, but first I’d personally drill a small hole in your rack at the front lip and zip-tie the wire to the rack. It’s coming loose as it has play to move left and right with wind buffeting, zip tie against the rack should stop that.

Okay so silicone might be a good solution then. I was worried it was a permanent solution to a temporary problem. Good tip about securing it to the rack! I wanted to make sure my wiring was all figured out before I got too ambitious with a drill. The area around the rack and bar will be cleaned up for certain.

Silicone is what we do for all of our installs. Put it down and after get some blue tape so it holds in place. Remove tape after 12 hours to solidify it.

    Thanks!

I ran mine on the other side of the molding. Had it there for almost 2 years and never budged.
