I installed front BP-51s a few months back in my 2015 DBL Cab Tacoma and have played with the compression and rebound settings. But I am finding the ride still pretty jarring just driving on fire service roads. My questions are:
    1. Without a front winch bumper do I need to adjust the ride height from the factory BP-51 settings to compensate or smooth things out
    2. Is the rough ride expected in a 2015 Tacoma?

Without a bumper, it's been suggested to adjust the coilover to 15mm. That might help with topping out and ride.

Thanks. That is the info I was looking for. Now how to do it without a spring compressor. Any thoughts or tricks?!?:)

Is it the overall ride that feels rough or just your backend bouncing around not feeling planted ?

There's one on Amazon for about $60, but I wouldn't bet my life on it. Find a pro. the springs can be a little tricky on the bp-51 and not all compressors fit right.

Truck feels like a sports car. I love the road feel, but off road makes me wonder why I even made a change. Little to no absorption of the bumps. That was my expectation when I did this. Much better than what was on there - OME Heavy Duty - but without the weight. I have airbags and OEM shocks on the back.

I had airbags. Removed them and things improved quite a bit without having sag when towing a boat with 280lbs tongue weight.

Your description of off-road driving with your BP-51s is nothing like what I'm experiencing. I can do 70 over decently rutted dirt roads and it's pretty damn comfortable. That's also fully loaded with all my camp gear. I did adjust my front coils prior to install, so that may be your issue. I adjusted them based on the factory recommended height for a truck with no front bumper but added 2mm's more preload or so on the passenger side to accommodate for the taco lean. It's still not level though. haha

I think what I found out my ride height is based on the stock BP-51 settings which are based around a front bumper and winch (I don't have). So I think if I adjust that back down to I think it is 2mm then I can start seeing the benefit of these shocks.

The Billy's dont really soften up until about 25 to 30 mph off road. That has what I got from them.

I agree on the tire pressure. I always drop to 15psi on dirt roads.

I concur! Air pressure makes a big difference.

Generally we are going down a washboard fire service road and leave as is. I agree it certainly helps. But there has to be more to these shocks for $1500.... They are great in corners and eat up the road. But to go off the road onto a fire service road, we are still getting jarred around. I would be like taking a performance car on a fire service road...... Once it warms up I will see what the adjustment 15mm will do (no heavy front bumper)... Thanks for the replies
