cd player replacement

I need to replace my cd player. I was told, even though I have a single din stereo in my 2006 toyota tacoma 4x4, that I could replace it with double din stereo. Is this true? I was also told that my stereo was a JBL stereo system. Is there any way to confirm this since I dont see JBL anywhere on the stereo
or speakers?

 

Do you have your original window sticker. If not go to Toyota dealership get vin ran for the build sheet

 

nah I bought it used. I dont have the manual either but I called toyota and asked for the features on it. They emailed the features to me but It didnt say whether or not it was the JBL stereo or not. I had a guy tell me that even though it was a single din that I could replace it with a double din but I wanted to make sure before I bought one.
