The stock Toyo tires wore out on my 2016 Sport after 30k. Went to Discount Tire to get some Michelin Defender LTX M/S tires on my stock Sport rims. The first four tires must have barely balanced and shook horribly. Took back, they road forced balanced, replaced one tire, still shook. Took back again, road force balanced again, replaced two more, still vibrates. They think they might have got a bad batch of tires. *sigh*

    1. Does anybody have these tires on Sport rims and are they ok?
    2. What other replacement tires you got on your Sport rims and how are they?

I have them on my Sport but I have my 16” SR5 Wheels. My tire size is 275/70/16 and they ride great, made a world of difference compared to stock tires. They also have a 70K warranty and so far they seem to be on track to get that or better.

Picked up the same tires earlier this month. Noticed they were slightly louder and road stiffer than the stock Toyo Tires. Traction is night and day difference on wet pavement. Overall felt like a better ride.

Have them on off road rims. Had to rebalance 3 times while replacing one tire. Smooth now however I’ll add they have a stiffer ride compared to the Goodyear’s. I’ll also blame this on the Tacoma’s driveline vibration and or chassis shutter.

Ok good, thanks... the tech was saying that my truck and those tires may not be compatible. I seen that 95% of the Defender LTX's are made in either US or Canada except this particular size which is made in Taiwan and I was worried... There's a thread of another guy that switched from KO2's to these with the exact same truck and size tire and his was fine too. Thanks again for the post...

QC must have differed in the last 10 years. LTX I had rode quiet and no balance issues. But that was a long time ago.

Being that the stock tires seem to balance fine, I doubt it would be a wheel issue. I would also check on Kuhmo Crugen HT51. They are very similar to the LTX tire line, and are rated best in category on Tire Rack. I don't have them on my Tacoma yet (only on wife's vehicle right now), but I plan for them to be my next tire.

They ordered 8 new tires directly from Michelin so they'd be from a different batch, they couldn't get any of them to balance. Thanks Taiwan. Had to switch to a different brand...

Bad batches happen. Michelin is usually pretty quick to catch and recall them though. Maybe that tech didn't know what he was doing? See if a different shop can balance them.

I've got BFG KO2s on my truck, I balanced them myself. They weren't very easy to balance out, but with a little time and patience they roll smooth. Stock sport wheels as well

Did Costco give you the option of mounting the white letters on the inside? The last set of tires I bought from Costco (BFG) I was told the letters had to be mounted out. I do like the Michelin letters on the Sport wheels though.

Yes, they asked which I preferred. Glad I went with the lettering out. They did a great job balancing them too.....no shakes or shudders at any speed.

After just over a month on these tires, I can't describe how happy I am with them. Man, they ride smooth and the height increase is exactly what I wanted. I no longer walk towards my truck and think....I need a lift.

Probably getting the same exact tires as Cam308 for my white sport. Will go white letters out for sure.
