    My thoughts right now:

If they know it's a computer failure, they would know which one. So they probably don't know but are assuming and will swap parts until the behavior changes.

The odds that moisture had something to do with this are high. I cant remember a day without rain.

I would think there are other places moisture can go to cause this. I would also think that moisture could dry out naturally or as a side effect of swapping things around. If moisture outside of a computer is the cause and it dries out, you get a false root cause.

My suggestion when you pick this up: make sure everything is documented with Toyota and you have copies. Make sure Fox' number is in your phone. Then drive west on Charles Sevier to the first touch less car wash and go thru on the cheapest cycle three times. The last time you might take options to dry the truck, but not the first two. If this is going to happen again, it's best it happen nearby.

So...I bought a truck that has a option of a snorkel to be able to submerge the truck while crossing a wild stream of water in the middle of nowhere and it might not work if it rains hard in town? I might have bought the wrong truck. I hope this fixes this truck without anymore issues.

I don't think that will be happening unless Costco goes under water really fast.:) In fact I don't think I'm going to be driving the Tacoma any time soon. The dealer called this morning and said they couldn't get the computers for at least another week. I think I'm in selling mode, keep an eye on Ebay in a few weeks. First and last Toyota. I hear GMC has a nice pickup with a fancy tailgate. HHMMMM

It isn't fixed yet, so claiming you can't count on it is high drama. Could it be water infiltration of an electrical component? Sure, but if it is it doesn't mean the truck is unreliable it means it has a damaged/defective electrical part that needs replaced. If you think any other truck is immune to having issues due to a bad component, you're going to be in for a lot of disappointment in life.

It's a mass produced vehicle, no matter how good any vehicle is they are all made from thousands of individual components. Components fail, sometimes they fail prematurely. When the part changers get done replacing expensive ECU/ECM/PCM/TCU components that are not bad and finally replace the cheap simple CPS your truck will be fine.

I would expect a Gay Man's Chevrolet to be designed with an emphasis on the rear of the vehicle
