I don’t have a lift and my brake occasionally gets frozen.

We'll sort of. First 2 times it happened to me was before the lift, but it was in foot and a half deep snow. And it was cold.

But next time it happen was more than half year later, and after a lift. So, not sure about first times, but I might have to look into adjusting the cable (pass side seems tighter)

To add to it. I had my lines totally replaced. They suspected a kink in the line and didn’t want try adjusting it first, as they figure the kink would still be there.

Yeah, it's well stated that the manual says you shouldn't do it. But that doesn't change the fact that in a manual transmission, when parked on a hill, you HAVE to use it. and I am not going to be taking chocks with me every where I go.

I had a 1st gen and now a 2nd gen. The e-brake has always been a problem, on both. I learned to never even use the e-brake, however, in times where I have to park on a hill and have to use it, the cable stuck and the brake would not even ENgage. Had to drive somewhere else to park on a flat surface. After having the cable fixed at a local non-Toyota garage, they said I should use the e-brake regularly to prevent it from seizing. So... now that I am back in the habit of using the e-brake every day, guess what... it froze. Dah dum dum. I ended up driving back home in 4-LO, just over a mile from where I was. Hopefully I can free it up today, in freezing weather. And start carrying around chocks in the back seat. PIA.
HEY TOYOTA: I AM NOT BUYING ANOTHER TACOMA WHEN THIS ONE DIES. Both gen's had frame rust recall, and a myriad of other issues. Twice bitten, closed deal.

If you read through these posts, I've posted my solution: first, put a block ~2" ahead of the wheel. Then I bang on the brake drum through the rim, using a piece of pipe and hammer that I carry, at about the 7 o'clock mark.Being in neutral, parking brake released, the truck rolls a bit, et voila.
Oh and I've noticed it tends to stick more after getting wet: snowwheeling, going through puddles, rainy days.
I use my ebrake all the time.

I just moved to Northern AZ where the temps drop to the 'teens overnight and if I use my parking brake, it freezes EVERY TIME. I have had my truck for 4 years and used my parking brake every I drive it. I do have a 3in lift but have never had the thing stick due to a "kink" prior to these cold temps.

I grab the line and jiggle and it works each time, but WTF Toyota, serious design flaw.

Anyone have a perm solution outside of replacing the entire line?

Thanks for the tip. Thought I was stuck this morning. Googled it and was on my way after a quick lay down in the snow…

Had this happen to me this year. The brake dust and anti seize was acting like glue in temps below 30 degrees. Scraped that out and cleaned it up. Haven’t had an issue with it since.
