Good luck, just curious have you been using 4wLo on this truck before? I know the first thing I did when purchased mine in DEC, was to get it into 4w drive hi,lo, and all the modes just to make sure everything was functionally OK. Hope Toyota does the right thing. Looking at the truck pic you uploaded, really not that much mud just looks like alot.

This was not the first time I have been in 4lo. I purchased the truck last January and in the first month I was out trying all the different modes. I have used 4wd almost every month since I bought the truck and have never had any issue with the truck besides the weather stripping around the moon roof starting to tear.

I heard back from the dealer today. Toyota is covering the repairs under warranty and they gave me a loaner while I wait. They didn't really tell me what was broken other than it was the entire transfer case. The only bad thing is apparently these transfer cases are on back order and the parts are not expected for a month or so and now I am driving a Corolla.
Thanks to all for the good luck wishes.

Glad to hear, OP, thar you got it covered under warranty.

I had my transfer case make that grinding noise when I tried switching from 2wd to 4Hi while at a crawl with the steering wheel turned 90 degrees. The dash light showed 4Hi engaged, but made that bad grinding noise. I disengaged 4Hi, straightened out the wheel, got back into 2wd, came to a stop, then reengaged 4Hi no problem. I think it was drive line tension from the wheel turned.
