This is largely in response to our friends in Florida and their chat earlier today.....and their 86F

    %$&%*#$@

We are trapped in a snow globe.

Canada is something shy of 10 million square kilometres in area. It is a 'northern' country, where surviving winter is a rite of passage. We get that, and we are proud of that.

Metro Vancouver is something like 2700 square kilometres.

I am just trying to understand why the very southwest (especially the 'south' part) corner of that huge mass of ice and cold and trees, 3/1000 of one percent of that vast imposing area....why, oh why, do we still have winter? It is mid-February. We should be admiring tulips, picking crocuses and getting ready to mow our lawns.

Not shovelling 8 inches of snow. Again.

We are happy to pay a premium for our multitude of taxes, we put up with the worst taxi system in the world, we tolerate the highest gas prices and highest real estate prices in North America, all this happily, so we can still be Canadian and not actually have to deal with winter.

To keep this on topic, all I did for/to my Tacoma today was test out the 4wd on the hills that the city plow trucks feared to attempt.

    Toyota: 1 International Trucks: 0

On the reverse side though, that layer of white stuff made for some impressive donuts in the Taco this afternoon after I clawed my way up the mountain19 02 22.jpg .

And it is with some thrill of anticipation that I note that the neighbourhood kids built a massive snow fort in the driveway of the house next door....that smooth, untouched white was the perfect palette upon which to craft a masterpiece, apparently. With the temperature falling below freezing tonight and for the next week I am sure it'll be an awesome surprise when those neighbours get back tomorrow night from their holiday...ironically, in Orlando.

Fingers crossed. Not one inch of snow in my part of Virginia this year. It is a miserable 45 degree rainy night. Compared to the folks up north I feel very fortunate. The only snow I like is in pictures or on the weather channel.

    Nice Diatribe!
It got to 45 here today so I went and spent $6 at the SS wash and wiped it down.
Its looks like snow/rain on Sunday but it made me feel good driving a clean truck for 24 hrs as you doing donuts in the 6' More you got!

February Blues, I get them, remember the Sun will rise!

Earlier this evening, I traded the Tacoma for a Highlander. My family will cherish the extra room.

Tacoma World is an outstanding automotive forum! Enjoy your Tacomas!

I'm betting you'll miss your Tacoma, but you won't be disappointed with your Highlander. We did just the opposite, traded our 2009 Highlander for the new Taco...we no longer need the room, again, the opposite of your situation, but i have nothing buy praise for our Big Red...it was comfortable, reliable, fun to drive, towed our trailer like it wasn't there, was great to sleep in, and that AWD took me some pretty hairy places that I likely shouldn't have gone....you are not moving up or down from the Tacoma World, simply laterally

I believe 1946 is correct! Didn’t even realize it made it in the picture. It’s repainted, I actually use it as my camping cook box. Everybody loves it.
