Have Logitech wireless mice now. Work well, good battery life, but consume a USB port.

Have traditional wired keyboards that consume a USB port.

    Options........

Bluetooth keyboards/mice that free USB ports, IF they are not burning down batteries quickly and work smoothly.

Wireless keyboards/mice that share a USB port. Again, battery consumption is a concern. And is there one that uses that C USB? 'Cause I don't use those for anything else. (yes, I know there are converters, trying to keep this streamlined if possible)

    Recommendations based on personal experiences?

    TIA!

I’ve got a Mac mini at the office and use apples wireless keyboard and trackpad with it. Connects via Bluetooth. Battery life is great, haven’t kept track but I’d guess I only change batteries once every 6-8 weeks at most, and that’s leaving them on 24/7 and using them 6-7 days a week through out the day. There’s no lag and only once in a great while do I loose connection for a few seconds. Been using this setup for about 6 years now.

    Haven’t tried any other brands.

She runs. What more can I ask for?
Logitech actually sells keyboard/mouse combos that can connect via Bluetooth or 'unifying reciever' (USB dongle). As far as I can tell, it looks like the keyboard/mouse go to a single USB dongle so you'd only be eating up one port. As far as Bluetooth, I don't know what system you're running so I don't know if it already has it integrated but you can always look into an internal Bluetooth adapter.

You need a new computer, mine came with 8 USB ports.

Not sure what I would have done otherwise!

Well, they are new. But you're not going to get 8 USBs in this form factor.

15" laptops with touch screens that flip over to a tablet if you wish. 500 SSD, 16 RAM.

More than likely has Bluetooth connectivity. I’d go with a Bluetooth set if that’s the case.

    9 months too late. :D

I went with the logitech setup @deadpocketss suggested. One port, but works perfect.

I was just kidding- a high speed USB hub?

I ended up getting a Dell monitor that has a built in USB hub for use as a second monitor with my laptop, it cleaned up my desk space considerably.

OK, so I like digging up old stuff. My wife’s an archaeologist and I volunteer a lot and even get PT gigs sometimes to help her company out! :D

And I was just browsing this thread and ran into it, things are kind of slow here and I didn’t look at the date.
