Soooooooo time to diagnose the fuel level sender? Maybe buy a new one?

 

Yeah... Its been out a while I just havent had time to take it apart and look at it. And if I fill all the way up a little fuel spills out the top of the tank somewhere (not out the filler neck) I dunno if I didn't get the lid screwed on good or what, so I have just been figuring 16.5 mpg (what it came out to the last time I overflowed the tank)... But I missed like 120 miles somewhere obviously...

Having the wg rattle solved I took it for a drive today! What a difference compared to NA!

However I now have have oil leaking from the turbo. Is there anything I should do with the pcv valve. It's currently in its stock location routed back into the intake manifold... Googling now

 

Route it to the intake pre-turbo and after the MAF. Run it through a catch can.

 

Shouldn't hurt anything to open it to atmosphere and see if it stops my leak, right?

Depending on how you route the pcv and vacuum hoses, you can create a major vacuum leak.

 

If I cap the intake port and just let the pcv to atmosphere? I'm sure it'll make a bit of a mess but to temporarily see if that's why the turbo is leaking.

 

That should work.

 

I've read that its important that the PCV should always see vacuum with a turbo system. Helps 'suck' the oil down into the pan and as when the crank get pressurize, the turbo oil seal will give quickly

You probably need some sort of catch can for the oil. I had an older 87 4Runner with the turbo motor and it would always pull some oil through the pcv so I went to one of the parts stores and found a plastic fuel filter with the inlet and outlet at the top and plumbed it into the pcv line. It actually worked pretty good. You can see it in this picture.

 

I just ordered a catch can last night. I'll have to experiment with where to reroute the outlet, pre or post Maf to keep it in vacuum. I haven't been able to find a definitive answer on this. I would think pre maf.

 

You want it post MAF, so you don't coat the MAF in any oil that makes it past the catch can. Also, the air coming from the PCV has already been metered by the MAF, and you don't want to meter it twice.

 

Sorry I have been ghostly fellas.. this job change and relocation have been my main focus lately!
