Little hesitant with the condensation dry. Saw in the q/a that some peoples washers constantly smell moldy.

I have an Asko dishwasher with a cabinet panel on the front. I think it was like 800 with a great discount through a family member, would have been 1800 or so. Figured I'd go for it since I had the cabinet panel already for the viking it replaced which got its control panel wires eaten by mice. I really like the asko. Its quiet and cleans well, stainless tub and tons of settings and it blends with the cabinets. But if I had to pay full price I never would have gotten it. It would have been a Bosch for sure

We are digging out a room in our basement, anyone have input as to the best method of putting 20190223_081057.jpg retaining wall here to get it as close to the foundation wall as possible?

Is your block flush to the inside face of the footing ?

We never had a problem with a moldy smell. The down side of condensation dry is it takes longer for the dishes to dry. The upside, which IMHO far outweighs that, is you can wash items that aren't "dishwasher safe."

So , first things first , undermining a foundation can have very bad results in the short term and the long term , even as a builder this job can still make me nervous , you need to be cautious and have an understanding of what you are doing .

Short term worst case scenario ~ collapse of the footing and block wall

Long term issue ~ settling over time resulting in cracks in floor finishes , drywall , etc

Without underpinning the existing footings you can dig no closer to them than the toe of the angle where the existing soil is still bearing the weight of the existing foundation wall .

ie , the weight of the existing wall bears on the soil in a manner that fans outward at approx a 45 degree angle so the deeper you dig beside the existing footing , the farther away you have to stay . That distance will also be modified by the bearing capacity of the existing subgrade under the footings .

I don't know the bearing capacity of your soil or the loading on your wall but we just went through this with the current job I'm doing , in clay soil with a very high bearing capacity and we were only dropping 12" and the engineer required us to stay 2' away at that depth , just eyeballing your pictures , and not knowing any details , I would not dig any closer than you already have unless you plan in underpinning but thats a whole different gig

I have like 100 questions about this. But let someone start with why? Have you spoken with a structural engineer or at least an excavator before starting this work? How much space are you looking to add? It may have been easier to lift the house and add block she without doing all this.

    Oz-t as always good advice.

I am going to glue and screw an extra layer of plywood down on top of a subfloor.
Do you guys have any recommendation for the glue I need to use?

Vacuum real good, and liquid nail should be fine.

DAP SmartBond, not cheap, or PL400 subfloor adhesive.
*There is an argument for putting felt paper between the layers and not glueing.
