Want to install a dash cam in '16 Taco. Looking for an easy power connection. It would seem the OBD2 connector would be ideal.

I haven't found a camera with a OBD2 connector. Does anyone know of one? Or, what am I missing?
    TIA!

They have OBD2 power cables made for the Blackvue models. Called powermagicEZ I think it is.

An add a fuse or fuse tap is simple. There is a constant supply in the dash fuse panel or you can tap off an ignition on supply. I have mine tapped on a constant supply for parking mode. If you take your truck in for service they may need to hook up to the OBD port so they will disconnect the camera and you will not have video of how they treated your truck. The way mine is, it is not noticeable and the camera is on the passenger side behind the mirror also hard to notice from the driver seat. When I took my truck in for the brake recall it recorded them driving the truck in the bay and taking it for a test drive afterwards, and the tech did not know it was there. He treated my truck very nice, but he did have some comments about another customers vehicle that he said out loud that my microphone picked up, it was funny.

For those that used the obd2 charger, is it a constant power source? If so, do you worry about having a dead battery?
    Thanks

I have an Owl Dash Cam since Feb... OBD2 powers it 24/7... from what I read, it is not supposed to run the battery down to non starting levels. Looking for where I read it before.

I have them in both my vehicles. The drain is about the same as an alarm. I've had it going about 6 days once. I've yet to come across a slow start. If it does , it does. I have AGM batteries and a mini battery jumper as well for backup.

It just gets constant 12v signal from the connector. Nothing more.
