What Have You Done To Your 2nd Gen Tacoma Today?

Pulled the third brake lamp to see if I'll be able to install a low profile shark fin for my SAT radio. Nope, too tight in there.

I pulled some more of the interior to see where I can run wires for the stuff I want to add (lights, cruise, inverter). With the parts out I was able to see what my truck is wired for.
Nothing, my truck is wired for nothing, except for a small harness for towing (which I wont be using). I found a terminal at the ECM that when grounded, makes the CRUISE light illuminate.
I might be doing cruise when I add steering wheel controls for my stereo (need to buy a clock spring first).

I also broke my truck

When I went to drive my truck home, I noticed that the shift lock didn't work and the PRNDL lights didn't work either. Turn signals also didn't work. The 10A IGN1 fuse was blown. I have no idea what I could've done to blow the fuse.

(grounding the terminal at the ECM didn't blow the fuse, it's the correct terminal for cruise according to the EWD I have)

 

They come and off with them I haven't ever noticed if they dim with them I'll go check

 

No they do not dim with them they ony cut on and off with them

 

Appreciate it. Hoping to get them to dim. Maybe just overthinking this...or maybe to many adult beverages

 

They will be dimmable if you connect them to the right wire. Using a splicer. I connected all of mine to the AC control knobs variable ground. Can't recall which wire but there's plenty of info out there.

Green/white is dimmer ground on the ac controls plug.

 

So I only need to connect switch to the green white wire?

 

Yes!

 

Switches have 4 wires:
Power to supply the switch
Switch wire to the accessory or relay
Power to supply the general illumination led(green wire from ac controls)
Dimmer ground(green/white wire from ac controls)

The led that comes on when the switch is on gets powered by the switch but both that led and the general illumination led share the same ground and so are both dimmable.

 

The reason for using the green wire from the ac controls for illumination + is so that the general illumination led comes on with the headlights like the rest of the lights on the dimmer circuit you could use any 12v source but they’d be on whenever it was hot.

So this would be correct wiring.

No you just used to loud vehicles. Peeps keep asking about a noise in the back of the cab. Im like what noise. Its not as noisy as my 93.
