I have a 2007 Tacoma with under 12,000 miles. The condition is like new. However it is the bare-bones model: radio, air conditioning and add-on cruise control. That's it. Obviously I must not need this truck very much and my brother-in-law wants it for his son as a first vehicle. I would like to figure out a value which is fair to both of us. I'm not sure the various valuation websites are equipped to handle this situation. How should I go about pricing my truck.

Look up the KBB (which usually low balls for Tacomas anyway), and consider taking it to a mechanic for a buyer's inspection to see if there are any looming issues because of the age, then go from there.

For example, 12k on 12 year old tires? Have they ever been replaced?

Also what region are you in? That drives pricing. Also, is the frame free of rust?

has it been sitting for 10 years? or just minimal use up to this point, low mileage some times scares people off.

They bring money above book any way so high book would be a fair price.

Find the value of your truck here and use it as a starting point. The value that KBB gives you can be compared to what dealers would charge in your area. Once you know you're in the right neighborhood for retail price, then you can start working on the family discount, nephew's Christmas/birthday present, etc.

NADA and KBB as a starting point. Look at CL, Autotrader.com and other sites to see what others are asking. Most important, start high and see what kind of response you get. You can always reduce your ask if you don't sell right away.

Edit: sorry didn't think about the nephew discount.
