Thats what i keep hearing. I just wish she could drive a 5spd so we didn’t have to get a certified used one just for me to be able to justify that stupid snowmobile transmission that i hate with a passion.

 

Have you driven a Subaru specific CVT? I was very unsure of it at first but I have no issues with it now, in both our subies. In fact I'd go so far as to say I prefer it.

 

Rented a 2018 Crosstrek with the CVT and put 1,200 miles on it Utah and Idaho which included mountains. It did awesome. We got back home and my wife ordered hers the next day.

 

I have. I like he 6 variations in gear reduction. I will say, it is the best CVT I have driven. But what am I to do when, not if, it breaks?

Also, honda’s CVT as of the 2018 CRV I drove, was absolute garbage.

 

Thats awesome. I imagine they work well for folks in the city and those who do a lot of traveling.

Personally though, i’d have the 5spd and save $1000

A CVT has to be replaced. At least as far as I know. Since its not like a snowmobile or an ATV where one can service it and replace belt, springs, clutches, etc.

Also, something suggests to me it’d be more than that $1000 it costs when buying the car with one...


Since she’ll have a certified used one with 4 more years and 90k miles of warranty, when it breaks, it won’t be our problem.
