    Hi Gents!

While doing some pretty aggressive mudding yesterday i broke what i believe is the rear "Yoke" that attached to the rear diff. Below are some pictures.

Does anyone have advice on the best way to fix this or part # to buy a new piece? Are there better aftermarket versions available? Could it possibly be covered under warranty?

Pretty easy to replace. Watch a YouTube video on how to replace it. If it's to much to do then take the shaft to a drive shaft shop.

You were mudding the truck. Warranty isn't applicable. You broke it bud.

If you still got drivetrain warranty....maybe it will be covered. Maybe not with bigger tires and lift (I assume). Heck try it, I would.

I’d start with the auto parts store. I’m not sure if that’s a factory spicer part or not. If they don’t have it, probably the dealer. The fact that you broke that amazes me.

exactly how did you break that? and you'll have a better chance getting your service manager to setup a date between you and his wife than getting off-roading accidents covered under warranty.

Definitely not going to be covered under warranty. Lemme look around and see if I can find you the part number. It's very easy to fix as stated above.

In the meantime what you can do is completely remove your rear driveshaft, pop the truck in 4wd and drive around in front wheel drive

edit: I'm not finding any part number for just that one piece. Good luck in your search.

Well I’m usually on board that Toyota should cover stuff under warranty. But not a chance in hell with this one

Center console divider thingy, rubber bed mat and side steps for the wife.
I would not have even thought that would be the weak link in the drivetrain. Has that driveshaft ever been removed?

Those Spicer numbers on there may be a part number. It's hard to make it out from the pic, but post them up in here or do some searching and see what comes up.

If it bolts on you can replace it. Go to a wrecking yard.

I've been 4 wheeling since 1968 and have never seen that happen - 2 jeeps, 2 4wd Isuzu Troopers, 1 Isuzu Rodeo, 6 Toyota trucks. Unless the ujoint froze, I'd bet it's manufacturing defect. How many miles on the truck? I'd expect the ujoint to go first, since Toyota no longer installs greaseable ujoints.

@Branny21 Your drive shaft may be twisted, that would need to be checked and if so replaced. A drivetrain shop will be your best friend.

Ha, interesting. I only have 20K on the truck right now.

It happened when i was going into a V ditch and i went down and up, then on the up i think the tires sunk in some holes, i think they are rabbit holes or something. So while trying to go up the truck was slipping (it was muddy) and i gave it some more gas to see if it would power up and then i heard a bunch of rattling and no power to the wheels and stopped. I think the ways the holes in the ground were that the truck sank and it just happened to have the ground pushed up against that Ujoint/yoke and some how just broke.

Axle wrap... be glad it broke that and not the pinion shaft.

Looks like the driveshaft was making contact with the yoke U-joint mount in the bottom of your first pic. You sure you didn’t maybe bend your DS and then pin it or can axle wrap twist the leaf springs enough to make contact like that?

And as others have said, replacing that part and your u-joint is easy. I’d get your driveshaft checked too though....

I didn't even know you could break that part since I figured the ujoint or pinion would blow first. Congrats on using your truck, sorry it broke.
