    hi all!

    REQUEST:

Would someone please list the correct procedure to bleed the brakes, step-by-step, starting with an empty (drained!) master cylinder? AND: Can this be done by ONE person with a "brake bleeding kit" (have one in my possession) or are TWO people required?

    some DETAILS:
Am in midst of rebuilding right front caliper on my 96 2wd ("5-lug") auto 2.4l (no ABS) Taco. Unfortunately I failed to adequately cap the brake line so the system is completely drained from the master cylinder on out...
So, here seeking procedural details from the TacomaWorld-ly wise folk as this is pretty much the first time I've tackled brakes beyond R&R'ing rotors and pads.
-If the bleeding procedure is not (reasonably!) 'do-able' by one person I can probably bribe or browbeat someone into helping me if I must- but I'd rather not have to. -

My 'brake bleeding kit' is labeled: "14 piece Brake Bleeding and Vacuum Pump kit" - don't remember when I bought it, just that it's been kicking around the garage for quite a while. Brand is "Pittsburgh" so it's from Harbor Freight. While the kit does have an "Owners Manual and Safety Instructions" it is quite general.

Thanks for reading, much gratitude in advance to any responders with wisdom to share.

If you can figure out how your kit works and are able to find it.

Simple matter of getting the hose on the bleeder cracking the bleeder open sucking the air and fluid out

If not your drafting someone to pump the pedal allowing it to go to the floor holding it there till you have the bleeder closed repeat as needed

First thing is make sure all the bleed screws are clean and free .

RR LR RF LF some bleed the LSPV my one attempt was so very expensive your in California it should go better .

making sure to keep an eye on the fluid level

    thanks for responding Wyoming09!
    could you elaborate, please?
    - at what point in this procedure do I (adjust?) (bleed?) the LSPV?
edit: "Timmah" aka ("Timmy the Toolman") has video for bleeding/flushing brakes. He makes a statement in the video that the LSPV is done _last_ (after all 4 wheel cylinders).
....but he does NOT say what, exactly, is done to the LSPV, nor HOW.***
-can you tell me how this is done? And I gotta ask: why would being in Cali affect the LSPV?
and, (finally) : how did your attempt turn out "so very expensive"? perhaps I could learn from, and try to avoid, your experience.
re: fluid level :will do ....
    Thanks again.

    (edit, addt'l):
can somebody please give me the rundown on the LSPV. Please, and thank you.
    Re-edited: please disregard
the 'edit, addt'l': using on-site 'search' I found plenty of info about what and how on the LSPV.
this site is such a goldmine for Tacoma owners-I love TacomaWorld!

Being as I live where everything rusts solid bleeders tend to snap off or just rust to the point they don`t work after days of soaking in Kroil

Yes being in California might be a big help

If everything mentioned above does not provide a firm brake pedal, you may have to "Bench Bleed" the master cylinder. There should be videos for that on youtube and there are many for the LSPV.

@Wyoming09 : I don't know what, exactly, I was thinking about why being in Cali would make a difference but it certainly wasn't anything so simple as _that_! Thanks for elucidating, I "get it" now!

@Lester Lugnut : thank you for replying, crossing fingers I won't have to go that far....
