I should have been better prepared and wish I seen a thread like this before my purchase. It's been a little over a month now and my adds were 2,200 and 447. I'll add it to lessons learned and next time be better at the game.

Let me guess, you are the exception to the rule when it comes to the reputation and known shenanigans that happen in dealership finance offices?

Easy to blame the new vehicle buyer that on average only buys once every 5-6 years and expected to know all the ins and outs of the finance office that plays that game every day, year in and year out. Not exactly a even playing field for the buying party but I am sure the dealerships like it stacked in their favor.

So while this whole "you signed....." argument and hiding behind the convoluted contract legalese bolsters your case, it is still morally corrupt what the industry does and deserving of the reputation they have.

You lost me right there. If you only do something every 5-6 years wouldn’t you be extremely careful when you agree to the terms? Typical Americans buy a house every 5-6 years. Would you sign a mortgage without understanding the paperwork?

I never said anyone was an idiot. Large investments deserve close scrutiny. There is no crime here yet our entitlement society certainly encourages us to be a victim and hire an attorney.

You can be careful and think you are paying attention, but the fact is the guy that does this everyday knows how to wear you down and word things in such a way that in your mind you think you understand, but in reality he is selling you something you don't need. The finance office people are there all day and they are not excited to get in their new car, the customer is excited and ready to take their new ride home and show it off so the finance office uses this to their advantage. Especially when they give you a high number at first and you say no, then they come back with a little lower number, you still say no, they turn to their computer and hit a few keys, probably e-mailing their co-workers they are about to hook another one, and turn back to you and say, o.k., I can get it just for you for xxxxx price and it will only change your payment by xx dollars a month. It sounds great at that moment because of the way he worded it, so you, ready to get out of there, say well that's not too bad, o.k., lets do that.
Point is, you can't beat the dealership at their own game, the whole establishment is full of professional players and the customer only steps on the field once every few years.

Hard-sell tactics are the second oldest profession in the world. Caveat emptor.

The point is you can keep saying no or get up and walk. Yes, it is that easy.
