thanks. I thought that style & material would be superior to the thin, flat, foam.

2019 long bed access cab w/ ARE commercial cap on order.

i'll bash the cap dealer after it's installed (4 weeks). remind me never to work retail!

    I had read this.

Q: use a thinner bulb style?

I like EPDM products. got a bunch of Marvin big-buck windows to stop leaking with HD epdm self adhesive weatherstripping (to thin for bed rail seal).

I don't know what size. Isn't your dealer doing the install?

For underneath the bedrail, use sealer from a tube. I used Geocel Proflex.

cap dealer. since when did "dealers" do anything but price-point service 'n' sales?

dunno. The ones I've worked with always did the install. Also, don't AREs come with a bulb seal, factory installed? The only thing you would have to do is seal under the bedrail caps, if you wanted.

I hope they prove my concern unfounded.

Q: do we seal the bed rail side plastic cap in place or remove it?

    thx

Remove it to seal it. There are about 8 clips per side holding them in place. It's good to have a trim removal tool or maybe a butter knife to pry it off without breaking the clips. There are good instructions on a thread around here somewhere.
