If anyone is new to this site because you have concerns about frame replacement, you are already a step in the right direction.
Thanks to everyone who previously put information in about the frame replacement process. I read so much that was very helpful. I was nervous about the process especially with some of the negative responses I read.
I have a 2005 Tacoma with 199 k on it. The frame was just replaced a few days ago.
My biggest concern was being charged for parts I did not need. The dealer and shop were great. It took 3 days to complete. Once the truck was taken apart they called me and informed me of things that were worn and should be replaced. They reminded me that the labor was free on most of the replacement parts. When I had the struts replaced, apparently the springs are part of the "complete set", but I didn't need springs so I wound up paying for labor on strut installation. The shop was willing to cut a break on the price of the parts, so I really can't complain. I did do some price checking and they were good.
I replaced shocks, struts, control arms, a serpentine belt, rear wheel cylinders, and some other smaller odds and ends. My radio cd player was shot so I paid to have them put in a replacement.
My cost was 1,950.00 for parts and labor. From everything I read on this is site, I did good. Lets face it. The truck is old. The body is great, no rust. I am hoping to keep the truck for another 5 years. I cannot believe the company did this. I'm happy with everything.
I did a blue book value check on my truck. It might be worth 4k. I also checked to see if they was just give me credit toward a new truck, no deal. I cannot believe the company did this.
