If you can do what I do is irrelevant. If you do not want to shift, don’t get a manual, it’s that simple. Where I take it and HOW I take it is what makes it fun for me. It’s not a rally car. Rally cars are corny. It’s an off road utility vehicle that I wind out having my own version of fun. I will suggest you test drive both manual and auto. You may find yourself in a manual despite what you say.

That may be the case, but if you can test drive both, it’s worth it to consider. A lot of people cannot stand this version of an auto trans.

I think its an E92 because it's the coupe. Never have been able to keep the BMW model codes straight. I'd love to scoop up a 2002 someday though.

I tried repeatedly to find one over about a month a couple years ago. No dice and I sometimes search autotrader and there are so few in there.

Well I’m not worried for you. Based on what you said, I doubt you will be disappointed in the Tacoma no matter what config you get, as you fundamentally understand that the Tacoma isn’t a sports car, drag racer, track car etc.

I have an E46 and it is one of the more difficult ones for me to drive hard if it’s been awhile or I’m coming from another car. Always takes a few launches to get it smooth as butter. Any other manual is seemingly easier for me for some reason

Bottom line... no man ever managed to pull some ass because he had a manual transmission. Ever.

Worse gas mileage, PIA in traffic, and yeah..clutch replacements.

I live when guys puff up over the dumbest things. It takes like next to no skill to drive a manual. Been there, done that. My race bikes have clutches so that enough clutch for me (even though they both have blip downshifts and quickshifters so I only use the clutch once per race) lol

This. the auto trans on the Tacoma is garbage compared to my 17 tundra. BUT the TSS radar controlled cruise control is THE BOMB!!!!

False. I have pulled two confirmed asses as it was later mentioned in conversation they were impressed. And that’s not counting the unconfirmed asses. I will further confirm later in this thread. Also- I can swap a Tacoma clutch in this gen and a 1st gen before lunch, which is on me, because I’m nice like that.

The ass getting factor may only go up with time as the rarity increases. Or it may become so rare the millennials view it as obsolete like a typewriter and then it has the opposite effect and scares them away

My Tacoma is the first automatic I've ever owned. Started driving when I was 16 and it's always been three pedals. The only reason I even got an automatic was because I broke my knee in a motorcycle accident and had trouble shifting during my recovery and had a 1.5 hour commute each way to work (due to traffic, not distance). I was driving a manual F150 at the time that I bought new in 2000 and it gave me 14 trouble free years and 260k miles.

Had it not been for that accident I wouldn't even be on TW, so there's that- silver linings.

What's OP have for an insta? Linked already? Attention poor idiots with stupid questions on a truck enthusiast forum need to be called out more, in my opinion. OP sounds needy as F. And no I haven't read 13 pages for an attention poll, despite being assured of stun gun beauty

I was born to drive a manual but too old to deal with a clutch in traffic, it's not fun anymore.
