If you had between 1 and 2 years to eventually buy a Tacoma new, how would you do it? I'm looking for stock 3rd generation TRD OR. Are there strategies you have for long term shopping? Are there sales events to wait for? Are there certain parts of the country that are more advantageous? What is Toyotathon and how could it effect this? (Are branded titles for slightly used vehicles a no-go?) Thanks

If you have no trade, wait for end of year, between Christmas and New Year. Buy previous year truck. That is the best possible price time.

got to competing dealers. let them know you've visited, or are going to visit, other dealers for the same & for different brands. I don't think it hurts to let them know you're open to the best deal regardless of the manufacturer.

Search large volume dealers as well looking to move products. A dealer with 50 Tacoma’s is probably going to move them faster and negotiate easier than one with 2 on their lot.

Best day to purchase is the last day of the month. If the dealership has what you are looking for than locate the salesman on the floor that looks the most stressed out. The one who might lose his job for missing his sales goal again. He will look like a junkie and will be very jumpy.
He will sell it to you for invoice.

There is no magic formula. Research what prices are being paid and then go get your deal. Edjucate yourself so you have the upper hand. Drive your new truck home and enjoy.

Information is power. Be well educated on what you want, and the price it goes for in the various parts of the country you are willing to travel to.

Although the trucks are made here (Texas), that doesn’t mean Gulf States Toyota orders their trucks the way I want. I am willing to travel for the correct config.

I personally prefer to get quotes via email. Saves ME time.

Never give someone your keys for a trade-in appraisal. They can do that with you present. Takes 10 minutes.

Never talk trade or financing until you have a sales price you like.

Last day of the month and quarter is always a good time to buy.

    What I've seen that works...

1.email a bunch of internet sales Toyota and let them know exactly what you're looking for.
    2. Take the best quote to your nearest/preferred dealer and tell them to match and or beat it. From the quotes I got they were all very close to invoice for my 2017 at the time. About 2k difference than what their original 'best offer' was
    3. Be educated They wont bs you

Stay away from the sales people who look like they spend their nights at cocaine parties.... generally they know how to swindle... and thats why they spend so much time at coke parties.
