Is there anyone out there who has any ideas or possible mods to make my satellite radio reception better in my 17 taco? It seems there are days when it’s bright blue sky the radio doesn’t work well.

I didn’t subscribe after the free trial because the reception is so bad on my 17. Perhaps a better antenna would fix it but it wasn’t worth the trouble to me.

I live in the Great Smokey Mountains and seldom have an issue. Better get it checked out.

I had poor reception on my 17 when I used the free trial as well.

I got Apple Music instead of paying for Sirius. I don't know if Sirius has an app where you can listen to their stations on your phone. Obviously you can with Apple Music, Spotify, etc. Those services also allow you to download songs. So if you are driving somewhere in crappy cell coverage, you could still listen to your downloaded music. If you have cell coverage, they also have radio stations and play lists you can listen to.

It made more sense to me to pay for Apple Music and listen anywhere. As opposed to paying for Sirius, getting poor reception, and only using it in the truck.

I know you may have a station or show on Sirius you really like. Just wanted to present another option.

I have had a dead spot intersection on 4 different vehicles with Sirius, usually if you hit a dead zone it's Sirius not the vehicle.

Satellite is an extremely touchy transmission method. My signal will cut out when I don't see anything around that should be blocking it.

All about location. The further North you are the lesser the angle to the satellites. There is no fix for location.

They used to have them more North but have cheaped out so for instance it sucks where I am. I was really confused when people said the liked it as I can’t go a mile or two without drop outs.

The dealers are idiots and might even swap out your head unit. Let me know if you bother and if it works.
The shark fin has several antennas in it, and the satellite is the correct impedance and gain, so swapping it out for an Amazon piece of China marketing fluff also feels like a fools errand. Let me know if you bother and if it works.

I ended up getting a credit from Sirius and stream from my phone. This also lets you avoid Entune, another marvel of technology destined for the junkyard. I get increasingly lower offers in the mail every few months to come back. I would pay 2.99/month, they are currently at 4.95 which is not worth it since I can’t listen to talk radio constantly interrupting nor do I enjoy staccato music.

Had a 10,13,& 16 RAV4 and my current 18 Tacoma, all have weak Sirius reception even when there's clear skies. My 13 F-150 seems to have a stronger Sirius reception.

Satellite radio gets the signal from the southern sky (similar to how Dish TV dishes are pointing toward the southern sky. When I pull into my garage on the north side of my 2 story house. Sirius XM completely goes away.
