Non selectable lockers?

    Painted stock wheels, bfg km2s, 5100s front and rear, tc spindles, add a leaf, 3" block, debaged, flowmaster exhaust, 2nd air filter removed, wheel spacers and k&n air filter
    What are the downfalls of non selectable ones suck as detroits that engage when throttling and disengage when turning besides non being selectable? Bad for highway driving? Mileage? Or nothing really bad? Installation difficulty?

    A detroit is locked. period, when you turn your rearend stays locked and if you get too much of a bind on it then you could start breaking stuff. it will be bad for your tires too.

    I thought detroits unlocked when you let off throttle? I thought it said that online

    shackle brace, rear sway bar, 3 gen seats, Coupe Shifter, 3rd gen OR front springs + shocks, 17" 4runner 6 spoke wheels
    Detroit (Eaton) makes limited slip differentials such as the TruTrac
    but THE Detroit Locker is locked all the time like Mud Bug says.

    Generally not recommended for any kind of street duty vehicle.

    oh ok... you are right... I didn't read down far enough
    Damn I hate when I do that


    It is engineered to keep both wheels in a constant drive mode, and has the ability to automatically allow wheel speed differentiation when required.

    my friend's dad said he once had one and every once in a while when letting up the clutch to move from a stop the truck jolted and it felt like he was being rearended. he says thats what it was because of but their technology might have advanced since then.
