    My truck is a 2017 Sr5 V6 4x4 automatic transmission
    20K miles.
I drove it to the Publix today. When I came out and got in, I started it and put it in reverse. I could feel it didn't go into reverse right away, maybe 1-2 seconds went by, I still had my foot on the brake and it clunked hard into reverse, it make the truck jerk a bit

So you mean take it to the dealer? I guess I can tell them what happened, otherwise it started working normally after that.

Actually check it prior to bringing it in so you know. If its low have it towed.

Tell your service writer exactly this and hope for the best.

Actually, they will say they could not replicate it before saying it's normal. :)

Almost guarantee low tranny fluid is the issue. You can fight with the dealer to check it or just do it yourself in the driveway in about 10 minutes. Really not that hard.

Or if you really want to get wild, change the fluid in the diffs and do a drain & fill on the trans.

This happens if you start your truck and it is still revving in a higher than normal state while placing the truck in reverse. Let the revs slow down before it goes into reverse.

Yeah I've had it happen a few times and figured out this is the cause for me. I give it maybe 4 or 5 seconds and havent had an issue

it means you didn't have the gear shift selector completely in reverse
