I know how, learned to drive on a stick. I'd have one today except that I no longer can trust my seventy-four year old left knee to hold up in city traffic.

People who think they can but haven't ever aside, I'm sure the number of people who used to but don't anymore is pretty high. A lot of people I know had to drive them just because they were "standard" shift, meaning the cars we could afford came with them because they were cheaper to build. I had to learn to drive a stick shift because that's what our car was and I wanted a driver license. It wasn't until 2015 when I bought my Taco that an automatic was really an option. My Taco replaced a 1991 Pickup and when I bought that truck Toyota was still putting 4 cylinders and stick shifts in 97.32% of them. Hell, that truck still listed power steering as an option.
Sequential automatic gearboxes don't count. Trying to avoid stalling or trying to shift in traffic while juggling a Big Gulp and changing cassettes in the tape deck is crucial to the ballet of driving a stick. It's cheating to just have the fun stuff without the work.

People that can drive a stick are probably more than happy to click the the "yes" button those that can't probably were scared to even open this thread. Also in to be honest driving a stick is fairly easy. Most anybody with a bit of knowledge of the mechanics, some inclination to learn and basic coordination levels should be able to pick it up within a half hour or so. Doing it well and smooth does take a bit of time however. Also hill starts are kind of intimidating initially.

It's not a sequential gear box it's a automatic trans with a full manual valve body installed . With this valve body it converts the transmission into a full manual transmission .you have to manually shift the gears just like a true manual transmission . If or when you come to a stop you've got to go back to 1rst gear

If you're on the freeway going 65mph and you shift into 1rst it will lock the tires up . Also there's no more "drive" gear , drive basically now is 3rd gear or 4th gear depending on if it's 4 or 5 speed automatic

Here's a video of a full manual valve body

Automatic or manual, whatever. I drive everywhere in reverse gear so it's all pretty much the same.

Of the 3 manual trans drivers I associate with regularly, we have all developed a smirk that instantly enrages people, and I cannot have a conversation about cars/trucks without saying “...since I drive a manual, no big deal...” at least twice

Well that's not fair, most of the world still drives stick shifts so to them it's just a fact of life, interesting like listening to corn grow. It's just Americans who row gears that are weird and smug.

I'd have to second the BS call but for one reason: I'm guessing the vast majority of the crowd you and I both know are on here and can't drive stick, simply aren't taking part in the thread.

Same would go if we started a 40 year old virgin thread..
