    A comment about the Variable Valve Timing video that is shown above. It involves 16 valves and two cam shafts: this is a 4 cyl engine, and not a V6.
    Mother tongue of the gentleman is in the germanic spectrum of languages. The video and explanations are very educative, even for someone with no mechanical or ingeneering background.

    I have 2017 2.7 and a 5 speed.....at 55 mph I will down shift into 3rd to pass a car. No problems.
    I love my truck except for the whine.

    The 3.5 is plenty fast when you get it over 3500 rpms. It "feels" slow compared to the 4.0 at lower rpms because of the lack of torque. I would trade the high rpm pull for more torque down low as it is a truck. I haven't drive the 2.7 but I would guess that it should't feel too much like a dog, in fact I wouldn't be surprised if it drives better in the lower rpms than the 3.5. It definitely won't have much pull up top.
