If the cab is locked, isn’t the hood by default? I supposed you can “pop” the hood from underneath somewhere (haven’t really looked), but what’s the point of locking anything when a quick window smash gives the thief all necessary access?

Wouldn't want to have pad lock securing my hood in the event smoke is coming out of the wiring !!

I use Flex Seal. If it’s good enough for a hole in a boat, it’s good enough for the hood

If this has crossed your mind, you may want to reconsider your neighborhood. Interesting idea.

I thought he welded a razor blade on his hood latch so if someone tried to open it they would lose a finger.

Something was mentioned about a battery. Unfortunately that is exactly what they took from my brothers 4-runner after they popped the hood. Amazingly they left him their old POS battery, just did not hook up the cables. Of course they also took everything else of value out of his truck, including the stock stereo. He was out fishing and so the truck was parked in BF Egypt

There was also a thread about a guy who came back to a frozen Taco with a dead battery, and couldn’t get into the cab (also frozen) to open the hood and charge the battery. I didn’t go to my truck to verify, but one would think opening the hood from below wouldn’t require Tacoma-Man :rofl:

Next mod: install pop n lock in tailgate, relocate hood release to bed of truck to confuse window breaking thieves, and use that bendy metal stuff security cameras have that deters the cords from being cut on the latch cable.
