Does anyone know of a video where they compare sr5 and trd off roads in an sctual review? Or sr5's to other normal 4x4 trucks. Seems like all reviews are near top of the line trucks vs top of the line trucks.

Nope. What are you wanting them to review?

It makes sense for them to review top models because they can test out everything.

would like to see regular 4x4 tacomas comared to other regular, (non trd, zr2, fx4) trucks as those are the most common types i see everywhere.

Just go drive them all. A few times each. That's the only way you'll really find what you like

The SR5 is on the lower end of the equipment option list for the Tacoma. Most reviews will align the higher levels of options because that's what sells the most. The basic truck sells in smaller quantities, Toyota pushes higher equipment levels, thus produces more of those units. Ford & GM are the same.

As far as capability goes, the SR5 does not have a locking differential option while the Off Road does. There’s also the lack of Crawl Control (auto) and/or ATRAC (manual) in the SR5. Those two things are the biggest performance differences between the two (and they are big differences in regards to off road capability).

While true, people got along fine for a long time without either.

This thread might be of help to the OP

ATRAC is worth the money if you spend a significant time off road. The rear locker wasn't a big deal for me, because I would've installed an aftermarket one and not had the 4lo/speed limitations. You can't install traction control software....
In summary, the OR is worth the premium.

Completely agreed but for someone who has come from a open diff 1st gen w/no ATRAC... I really appreciated having these features installed from the factory. Less headache dealing with adding this aftermarket down the road. And I got into situations with my old truck where at least a rear locker would've pushed me through. ATRAC is just a fancy front "locker" that uses front brake modulation to provide power to the wheel that is not spinning. Pretty cool tech and wonderful to have if you get in a pinch off road. The only thing I really fear in regards to getting stuck in my 3rd gen is high centering. Traction is a non-issue with both of these technologies installed.
