I have a 1st Gen 2004 DCSB 4x4 V6 TRD Off Road. With “stock” suspension.

I have seen a few members running 3rd Gen TRD OR wheels (reference pic above) on their 1st Gen’s.

My understanding is that the 10mm difference in backspacing will bring the wheels “IN” by 10mm per side.

    Will this cause rubbing?

Those who are running this setup, are you using spacers?

I’m asking in preparation for the day of installation. I’d like to know ahead of time so I can acquire spacers if needed.

My plan is to run the 3rd Gen’s in the summer, and put snow tires on the 1st Gen’s for the winter months.

Thank you for sharing your knowledge, it is much appreciated.

I'm running third gen TRD pro rims! I had to use Spidertrax 1.25" wheel spacers for the front to clear my frame. I put the spacers on all 4 just for aesthetic purposes. I don't think you necessarily have to do this.

These before and after pics are with my stock rims and tires. I currently run 285/75/17 tires and they stick out an inch or two past my fenders. If you have any questions feel free to ask!

    Before

    After

In this picture you can kind see how far they stick out with my 285/75/17s.

The backspacing is wrong, but it fits.

    I have 31” KO2’s.

    Thank you for your replies.

Just to confirm, BartMaster1234 you are not using any wheel spacers?

No. But plan on if you want to run these wheels because they rub at full lock with certain tires.

    Thank you.

One other thing however, that never occurred to me, is will I need different lug nuts. The lugs where not included in the sale, and I now I am thinking the 3rd Gens may have a different nut design.

They use the same "mag style" lug nuts so you should be fine.

Thankfully Toyota made most of their Alloy rims the same, there were a few exceptions early on but since about '98 it was either acorn for steel, or Mag for alloy

No the lug nuts will work. I’m running the 2016 lug nuts on my 1998.
