What suspension would you guys recommend for a complete kit around 2-3" on a 3rd gen off-road?

Looking to spend around 1500-2000 after install, truck has 6k miles on it so I definitely want something that won't negatively affect the performance over the long run. The truck shop around me recommended a ReadyLift for 1000 after install(which I read is no bueno) or BDS for 2750, I also have a buddy who would install a rough country 3" for 1300. Those options don't sound the best for the price after some things i've read here so wondering what you guys would go with? After some research I have gathered a set of 5100s,5160-6112s, or an Icon stage 2 would be a better route.

    Looking forward to replies!

Know what you intend to use the suspension for. Cruising the mall? Riding trails? Rock crawling? Drop bracket lifts are frowned upon because they are more for form over function. What do you prefer more? Function or form? Use the search feature, there is over 100 different threads on this subject.

Top tier Suspension: ADS, KING, BILSTEIN 8112
Mid Tier: Bilstein 6112/5160, Toytec (maybe?)
    Low Tier/Basic: Bilstein 5100, OME

...oh yah...Icon shocks sucks (leafs are good), shock leak issues and bad customer service

Make that 2 votes. Just went to Big Bend National Park and tried out my 6112/5160 setup and it was fantastic on some pretty terrible 'roads'.

Thanks for the replies. Seems like the 6112/5160 is the choice. I live in Nebraska so not going to be doing much rock climbing but definitely some trail riding occasional, I will mostly be using it on the road day to day so I suppose form is the main reason but I also want solid functionality if I take it off road. Would the 5100's with OME Dakar leafs be a reliable option over the long run?

They are all right, but like the rest have said 6112/5160's are far better, for not much more. Also lot of complaints of squeaky Dakar leaf springs. Icon rxt, is my vote. I have the 6112/5160's w/rxt set-up.

100% if you can find them, go with the 6112s and 1560s. I just installed these with a heavy Dakar leaf pack and I couldn't be happier. I used the wheelers off-road bushings hand haven't heard a squeek. I had budgeted 2k for suspension and came in under budget including buying most of the tools I needed to do the install myself. (just as easy as everyone says). So, to reiterate, 6112s are the jam, and do it yourself.
