Does anyone have experience or information about changing the shifter boot, parking brake handle, and parking brake boot on the 3rd gen? I've looked for info and have come up with almost nothing. There is one video on YouTube that explains taking out the console to replace the shift boot but doesn't explain well.
I think a custom matching shift knob/parking brake handle and boot would add a lot to the vehicle and would be fun to personalize. Obviously changing the shift knob is not a big deal but I would like to take it a few steps further.

It's not that hard to disassemble the center console. The boot trim just clips into the console. I'm pretty sure the rubbery parking brake handle is just pressed onto the steel core. It would take some work to get it off I'm sure.

The bigger question is what were you planning to replace it with that would look better?

Fair question. My vision is to have custom knobs made. I've lately become obsessed with the recycled skateboard wood look and tbh I want something a little unique and flashy. I haven't picked out the boot yet but I have some ideas. Just want to be sure it's feasible and make sure I get the right specs before I commission someone to do work or make something myself.

Yeah, I mean the boots are the easy part. Any competent auto upholstery place should be able to take your stock ones and use them as a template. Shift knobs are easy too, but in the 3rd gen you have to figure out how to either keep the OEM boot connection, or replace it with something.

The parking brake handle is not going to be fun. You need to find a good way to secure your replacement and keep it from sliding off.

No judgement here, but it isn't my taste. It's his truck, he can do whatever he wants with it.

There are alot of tacky shift boots out there. Despite being a designer fabric i was really into that one though. Different strokes.
