I'm not sure since mine was installed at the factory, but I'll take a closer look tonight when I get home.

But the OEM one wouldn’t need that modification?

So that clears it up why the OEM tonneau cover part is not available from the dealer. It must be installed at the factory if you want the tonneau as an option!

I just looked under my truck's fender and I didn't see anything obvious other that some bolts coming in from the the interior side. The quarter panel's splash guard covered part of the area, so I didn't see 100% of the area around the gas cap area, but all of the tubes from there are metal. The only thing that I can think of at the moment is that whomever drilled, used a really long drill bit and didn't stop when he punched through until they hit something else in a "whoops" moment. I would suspect that the installer knew they did it, but kept their mouth shut.

Got the truck back today. Was sitting in the SA's office while he was talking to 4WP to get the payment. Manager of 4WP was haggling saying the exact same thing happened on another Bakflip/Tacoma install they did within the last couple days and a different dealership charged $200 less in labor. The notable part being the same shop had the same thing happen at least one other time very recently. Somewhere there is a definite communication breakdown between Bak and their installers.

OEM cover sits on top of the bedrails, these covers sit just about flush with bedrails and have their own rails with a drainage channel that requires the tubes to be installed

I'm telling you man, that fuel hose is about 1 inch below the bed on my truck. Wouldn't take a long drill bit at all, just not knowing that it's under there.

Somewhere on TW someone posted about some tube reducers that fit the drain holes without enlarging them. Wish I could remember where that was.

E19C4E71-B37E-4054-914F-A9EBC4828B38.jpg Hey everyone, I'm getting a tonneau cover and don't want to mount the drain tubes in the floor. I think it will restrict loading items in the bed. I saw a video on YouTube that a guy installed his drain tubes on a Tundra. He installed them in the back wall as shown here. I know the Tacoma doesn't have the plastic covers here like the Tundra, but does anyone know a reason not to drill a drain hole here on the Tacoma? Thanks for any help.

Does anyone has a key gas cap? If so, what brand? I think this could be another way to prevent idiots from putting anything inside the gas tube etc.

For the drain tubes on the mx4 I saw a post awhile ago where someone just got a downsizing adapter into the end of the hose to fit into the factory holes to avoid drilling
